Today we're taking a closer look at a concerning trend in our food supply: the rise of ultra-processed foods. According to the Network Science Institute at Northeastern University, a staggering 73% of the food sold in the United States falls into this category. In the UK, a study published in 2019 revealed that the average diet includes around 57% of ultra-processed foods. Notably, among children and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, this percentage can be considerably higher, reaching up to 80%.
